THE PAST TENSE

There are 4 kinds of the past tense, they are:

1. The Simple Past Tense

            Example:

·         I went to the concert last week

·         She moved to Bandung last month

·         He slept too night  last night

·         Rico left Jakarta yesterday

·         They built this house 3 months ago

·         She talked about him last night

·         I sent you a letter yesterday

·         Brazil won a world cup 2 years ago

·         He wrote a letter 2 days ago

·         She visited me last night

      2. The Past Continous Tense

            Example:

·         I was sleeping when my mother called me

·         He was playing guitar when I came into the class

·         The door was knocked while I was studying last night

·          I saw him in the libraly when he was reading a book

·          They were arguing about something when i came home

·          I ate my breakfast when my father was reading a newspaper

·          They  were playing chess when his mother came home

·          My mother was cooking while my father watched tv yesterday

·          I was seating in the room when the rain was began.

·          Sinta was running when she came late to school

a.                  3. The Past Perfect Tense

             Example:

·          I had bought the book before you suggested me to buy it

·          After I had graduated from college, I worked at this company.

·          We had bought some meal when he came late.

·          Before she got a car accident, she had drunk too much.

·          I had bought the book before you suggested me to buy it

·          I had arrived in the airport before your plane landed

·          My mother had prepared all of my needs before I went to Semarang.

·          I had told you many times when you asked me about her

·          She had found the key, before he broke the door

·         I had eaten before you woke up

a.                  4. The Past Perfect Continous Tense

            Example:

·           I had been staying here for 4 years when you moved here.

·          When the guests came, we had been waiting for an hour.

·          When the teacher came, the students had been reading a half part of the text.

·          They had been sleeping for 6 hours when fire had happened

·          He had been smoking for 3 years when he had finally stopped it

·          My mother had been toting me since I was born till I could stood on my own feet.

·          She wanted to sit down because she had been standing all day at work.

·          You had been reading your lesson for a few minutes when I arrived.

·          He was tired because he had been playing football

·          When i finished my homework, Risa had been watching television.

·         I had been sleeping for two hours when somebody knocked the door.
